An 8-field mosaic of the Moon during the last quarter, around the satellite's south pole. The main features are Mare Nubium, Rupes Recta and craters Tycho and Clavius. There are also a whole lot of faults (rimmae) to enjoy at full size. Although its name means "Straight Wall", Rupes Recta is... merely a 10% slope!
Images acquired with a PL1 camera equipped with a red filter and set on a C14 scope. For each field, I acquired 199 frames of which I selected the 10 sharpest ones with Avistack2. I carried out a bit of sharpening and edge enhancing with personal scripts within IDL, assembled the mosaic with Hugin and made a few last operations (cropping, rotation and light curve) with Photoshop.
