Comet Garradd is now reaching maximum luminosity and can be seen close to M92 with binoculars in a dark site. With astrophotography, 2 tails can be seen: a yellow reddish one, here on top which carries dust and a blue plasma tail, here at the bottom. It is unusual that the 2 tails are so far apart. It is because the solar wind is now very powerful and blowing nearly in the direction of the line of sight.
The comet will be closest to M92 in the morning of February 3rd. Alas for me the weather forecast is awful (this morning, I had to shovel a lot of snow to set up the telescope).
C11 in hyperstar (FL ~ 530mm) + QHY8L; 45 subs of 120s between 4h22 and 6h06 local time registered on stars (one can see the comet trailing towards M92)
