Comet Garradd has 2 tails, a gas or ion tail pointing to the 11 o'clock position in this image and a dust tail pointing approximately 5 o'clock. The stars have trailed due to the motion of the comet during the 1 hour of exposure.
12 x 5-minute exposures, manually, off-axis guided, ISO 1600, f/6.3. Unmodded EOS 40D, Celestron C8 telescope with focal reducer. Images registered and stacked on the comet using DeepSkyStacker software.
