Perfect weather to view planets and stars
Perfect weather to view planets and stars: Grab your star maps and red-light flashlights, and let's get to work on our target lists. Jupiter is golden and a real feast for the eyes in a telescope. Color-charged bands and zones are visible on Jupiter's disk, and four bright moons on either side of the planet are an extra treat. If you happen to be awake at 3 a.m. Wednesday and have your telescope aimed at Jupiter, you'll notice that it is sporting a double shadow transit. Downtown viewers will be treated to an Iridium satellite flare at 6:25 a.m. Friday.
