Alpha Centauri

The next nearest star to us after the sun is Proxima Centauri, a red dwarf star that is a member of the Alpha Centauri system. Alpha is a binary star. The primary is a G type star, the secondary star is a K type star. The two stars orbit each other every 80 yrs.
